The tooth involved is usually non vital and should be endodontically treated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given by <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Nutting and Poe<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another name of Walking Bleach is Intracoronal bleaching<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Used in non vital endodontically treated tooth to remove tooth discoloration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Indications<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentin discoloration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discoloration caused due to pulp chamber origin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moderate to severe tetracycline staining<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dicoloration which cannot be removed by extra coronal bleaching<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Contraindications<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Defective enamel formation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Superficial enamel discoloration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poor prognosis of tooth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Technique<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enamel surface is polished with polishing paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petroleum jelly is applied to gingiva around the tooth to be bleached<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rubber dam placed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access cavity prepared<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All coronal portion of the Gutta percha present should be trimmed\/removed either with Gates Glidden drill or plugger. The Gutta percha must be at the level of the alveolar bone. The GP is condensed vertically to 1mm apical to CEJ<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove all pulp horns if present<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orifice of Root Canal is sealed with either GIC, MTA which acts like barriers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients face should be draped and glasses should be given to the patient<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sodium perborate is mixed with distilled water to form a thick paste in a dappen dish. If stains are severe, 3% hydrogen peroxide is added to the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a plastic instrument, this mix should be placed in the pulp chamber prepared earlier. Entire pulp chamber must be filled with the paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A small cotton pellet is placed over the paste which is dipped in hydrogen peroxide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access cavity is sealed using any adhesive material. Ideal thickness of the adhesive should be 3mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Maximum bleaching effect is observed after 24 hrs of treatment. Patient follow up is usually done at day 3 and day 7 to compare the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After bleaching treatment, if the shade is dark, additional bleaching is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the tooth color after the bleaching treatment is too light, permanent restoration is given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walking bleach is a bleaching procedure performed at a dental clinic.
