OTHER NAMES OF DIE STONE:
Die stone or Type IV or Improved Dental Stone or High Strength Stone.
It is the strongest and hardest variety of gypsum products.
USES:
Used where high surface hardness and high strength is required ex: Crown and Bridge, Inlays
PROCEDURE:
As per manufacturers instructions a thick mix is prepared.
This mixed cement is then put on vibrator. Vibrator is used to remove the air from the mix and poured into the impression.
PROPERTIES:
It usually takes 24 hrs to gain maximum hardness.
Cast can be removed after 1 hour of pouring.
Its resistance to abrasion is low compared to other die material.
